Forging the link between player and piano
The relationship between player and instrument is rewarded with tone and reaffirmed with touch. A fine piano will respond to and artist's touch by producing vibrancy and consistency note after note. The balance of the keys, the geometry of the action and the choice of materials from which the keys and action are crafted all contribute to a piano's ability to perform under a player's hands. At Young Chang we masterfully create our pianos so that their characteristic touch is among the most coveted and admired the world over.
Since Bartolomeo Cristofori developed the first accion mechanism for the pianoforte in 1707, no other part of the piano has challenged inventors more. One of the most significant advancements has come from the work of harp maker Sebastien Erard with help from his nephew Pierre almost 300 years ago. Their innovation was the double escapement and repetition action for the grand pianoforte. This reliable and precise mechanism combined the light feel of the Vienna action with the forcefulness of the English action, both popular at the time. Artists such as Franz Liszt soon embraced this new touch which became the standard of the industry.
Young Chang and Joseph Pramberger have taken the dynamic qualities developed by the Erards to a new standard with the Platinum Touch Action™ available in all Pramberger Design Pianos.
From crescendo to pianissimo, and player to player, the action assembly must be able to translate the emotional and expressive intent of the artist with consistency and power. The geometry of the Pramberger Platinum Touch Action™ refines the virtues of its predecessors and effectively raises the world standard for touch characteristics and dynamics.
